Signal brewery wedding

Signal brewery wedding

It was at Signal brewery they had their Corbyville sunset engagement session. Even though, the venue was still in deep renovations. That’s how excited they were about their signal brewery wedding in Corbyville. Merryn got ready with her bridesmaids at best western and had the brilliant idea to get ready in one room while another room was getting cleaned before my arrival. As soon as makeup and hair was done, they all got dressed in the clean room. This made a big difference. They opened a bottle of Jacob’s creek rosé and shared a few laughs before heading to the ceremony.

Corbyville wedding

The bride’s father walked her down the aisle as she was holding her tears in. She finally let her emotions go once she was welcomed with a warm embrace from her future husband to be. The officiant asked close members of the their family to hold the rings and pass them along to signify their approval of this marriage. To do whatever is in their power to help them keep their promises. Finally, they were husband and wife. From Scottish decent, Dustin and Merryn’s family arranged for a musician to play the bagpipes.

For the reception, beers were poured and conversation spread like wildfire. The kind that only happens at brewery weddings. The bride and groom decided to make everyone work a little bit to make them kiss. Instead of simply hitting a glass, every table would need to sing together a song and sing it to the happy couple. You’d think this would make it a tad more difficult. But not in this case. Wedding guests sang old classic songs and the bride and groom had no choice but to give to the people what they wanted.

Dustin and Merryn, although your wedding day was at the end of September, it was by far the hottest wedding day I have ever been too. Thank you so much for your trust and patience. The heat didn’t make it easy for photos but you guys were so amazing. Oh and Merryn, you we’re right, Harper has to be the cutest little girl in the world.

Peterborough wedding

James and Kelsey have been sharing their lives together for the past eight years. They got engaged during Christmas and couldn’t wait to spend the rest of their lives together. For them, family is everything. It meant the world to them to share their Peterborough wedding with their loved ones.

Peterborough wedding

Mother nature decided that July would happen in September this year. It was an extremely warm day but the laughter and cold beers made it perfect for this summer weather. The bridesmaids had the groomsmen’s back and got them a mid photo refreshment.

The bride and groom cheered, celebrated and danced the night away. Kelsey + James, thank you so much for having me. You guys braved the heat with me and I’m so grateful of your trust as your Ottawa wedding photographer. I wish you all the best.

Strathmere THE RETREAT

I have an emotional connection to Strathmere and Strathmere weddings. This is where my sister Vanessa got married two years ago. (See photos down below) I think this memory is so vivid because she was the first of us five siblings to get married. When I think of Strathmere, I think of the last time we were just a family. It makes me think of a simpler time when I was annoyed that silence didn’t seem to exist in our household. Now, I leave the tv on because it gets too quiet. Nonetheless, her wedding was perfection and we all danced our heels off in the Strathmere lodge.

THE RETREAT

When I discovered Strathmere was more than just an Ottawa wedding venue, I was curious. Strathmere offers workshops, yoga, date nights, spa… All at the retreat building. When I saw the retreat cafe‘s field to plate dinner series, I knew me and Jordan had to go. A dinner party made of locally grown Ottawa produce, cocktails and an hour tour of the incredible gardens. From the garden house to their green house. Their cherry tomatoes are heaven paired with their cilantro. (You can’t give me a cocktail and expect me not to eat fresh produce while touring in a greenhouse. Just so we’re clear.)

The incredible passion Colin has for growing produce left its mark on me. I found myself day dreaming. What if I gave up my life of consumerism for a life of farming ? Ah fantasy self. Soon enough the dinner was served and my ideals went out the window. We ate until we just couldn’t anymore. I got heavily recommended to try Strathmere’s spa. Oh I will !

We had a magical night. As an Ottawa wedding photographer, I wish nothing more than to return to Strathmere. Perhaps to shoot a wedding or eat more. I’m down for both.

Romantic Montreal wedding

Romantic Montreal wedding

Sabrina got ready for her big day at her childhood home in Montreal. Giggles of excitement was heard as her best friend was applying her bridal makeup. It was clear from her bridal details that everything about this wedding was going to be romantic with a blush colour scheme. A romantic Montreal wedding for a vivacious and graceful bride. Being in the presence of Sabrina is to feel joy and the same goes with the woman in her life.

The bride got emotional as she walked down the aisle with her father. This had been months in the making and here it was. They had the groom’s brother give a heartfelt talk about marriage, life and God. Many laughs followed as anecdotes of their dating days were revealed. Just like that, the bride and groom exchanged a kiss that sealed the deal.

Parc André-J.-Côté

Going at parc André-J.-Côté for their wedding photos, their entourage followed. The bride reminded herself to slow down and enjoy the moment with the people she loved. The bride and groom shares a special connection. They love each other so much and that love shines through easily. As an Ottawa wedding photographer, it is always a pleasure for me to travel wherever my couples are. Billy + Sabrina, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Just being present for your wedding day was so special to me. I already can’t wait to see you again.

Kingston beach engagement

It was suppose to be a family vacation in Mexico. Nothing but the beach and fun. Derek never imagined he would meet a stunning stranger. Nevertheless, life happens when you least expect it too and both their worlds collided. Three years later, Derek took Sasha on a weekend trip to Niagara Falls. He surprised her with a helicopter ride. As they flew above the waterfall, he proposed.

Kingston beach engagement

Since they met on a beach, they decided to have their engagement photos in the same setting. I’m so grateful my couples decides where they want to have their engagement photos done. Most of the time, it’s somewhere I have never been. Grass creek park in Kingston is the most beautiful dog friendly beach I have ever seen. For all I knew, we were in Mexico. Well, almost. A Kingston beach engagement is the next best thing. They were laid back, relaxed and tons of laughs. The perfect combination for a Kingston beach engagement.

Grass creek park

Sasha being 27 weeks pregnant told me they couldn’t be more excited and that their baby’s nursery was already done. I couldn’t be more excited for what’s in store for their family. I can’t wait to see their baby next July for their Prince Edward County winery wedding at waupoos winery.

Angeline’s Inn wedding Prince Edward County

They both wanted to try something new. That’s how they found each other’s profile on Okcupid. They made plans to meet in Hintonburg public house an Ottawa restaurant. She was nervous and decided to not go last minute. Joe was playing hockey that day and went to their date straight from his game. He never got the message as he waited for Christine to show.

Nonetheless, For the next 4 years, they explored Ottawa, bought a home together and travelled the world. Spain, Morocco, Italy, Iceland and the list goes on and on. Marriage was always in the talks but Christine would jokingly tell Joe she expected him to buy her ten diamond rings.

On a quiet Sunday evening at home, Joe asked Christine to come up where he had nine jewelry boxes spread over the bed. He had a back story for each as it told their stories. Some were funny like a ring pop all the way to a Magpie ring with the map of Ottawa. Joe pulled out the tenth ring and asked her to marry him. The engagement ring was a custom made conflict-free diamond from Heist jewellers.

Angeline’s Inn wedding

They had their wedding at Angeline’s inn Bloomfield in Prince Edward county. It was the perfect place for them as it matched their style of artsy, vintage mixed with a modern twist. Christine got ready in the Babylon, a private log house, built in the 1860s. The abundant of natural light and the white floors/walls made it ideal. The bride and groom decided to have a first look. They were excited and emotional. Sharing those sweet moments together before they welcomed their wedding guests.

They walked down the aisle together. Both being a lover of the written word, they recited a poem to each other on top of saying their personal vows. I remember feeling how deeply connected the bride and groom were. They were in sync and so has their lives been since Joe got stood up by Christine.

Prince Edward county

The sandbank wine was immediately open as cocktail hour had started. To have an Angeline’s Inn wedding is to be surrounded by beautiful gardens and landscapes that Prince Edward County offers. Joe opened the speeches by saying: ‘This is hands down the best day of my mother’s life’. The night was young, but this was the night of their lives.

Joe and Christine, I can’t begin to say how much it meant to be your Ottawa wedding photographer at your Angéline’s Inn wedding. What you have together is very special. It was an honour to tell your story.

Jewel tea pavilion wedding Barrington

Chicago laid back wedding.

Marisa first emailed me to see if I wanted to shoot her laid back Chicago wedding. As an Ottawa wedding photographer who loves travel, this email was one I had been waiting for. Unfortunately, I was in the process of booking that same date with another bride. A few weeks later, Marisa emailed to tell me her wedding date had changed. Again, I was already booked that date as well. As strange as it sounds, I had the feeling I was meant to photograph this wedding. A month went by and a bride reached out to move her wedding in the spring instead. The impossible happened. I had Marisa’s wedding date open.

Jewel tea pavilion wedding

Nicholas and Marisa met in New-York in a bar. Til this day, who called who first is still up for debate. Nonetheless, they have been building a life together these past few years in Las Vegas. When they thought about where to have their wedding, Chicago came to mind as they both have family living near by. Soon enough, their jewel tea pavilion wedding was in the works.

The first look happened in the backyard of Nicholas’s grandmother’s house. Where he spent his summers swimming and boating. Their families were present and had a cocktail party for the bride and groom before the ceremony. The bride and groom had Swanson wine from Swanson vineyards in vintage wine glasses.

At Jewel tea pavilion, their outdoor ceremony took place in the citizens park. It wasn’t one minute after the ceremony that everyone hugged and cried. Especially watching the bride and her step dad, it was impossible not to cry myself. While photographing this scene and also while editing it.

Treehouse wedding

Already having done most of their portraits during their first look, we ventured for a few short minutes to the treehouse. I find dreams have a tendency to come true. I mean, a treehouse wedding and a bride and groom ? This was too good. The reception was filled with games, bubbles, dancing and my favourite part… Pies !

I want to thank Marisa and Nicholas for their kindness, generosity and for picking me up at the airport. I want to thank their family for treating me as one of their own. Also, for inviting me at their rehearsal dinner. I can’t tell you enough how much fun I had and how much of an honour it was to be your destination wedding photographer.

Gatineau wedding photographer

Gatineau wedding photographer

This story starts six years ago at University. When a man asked a woman if the seat next to her was taken. An empty chair started a friendship. A friendship who persevered not to stay a friendship for too long. Miguel waited patiently and did the impossible. He got out of the ‘friend-zone’. Being from Gatineau but living in Brockville, this was my first wedding in my hometown. Finally, I was a Gatineau wedding photographer for the day. It made me all the more excited for Miguel and Kim’s théâtre de l’Île wedding.

Théâtre de l’Île wedding

Entering their home, it was obvious that they had great home decor taste. As a Gatineau wedding photographer who adores bridal detail shots, this was heaven. I always look if I can borrow things from a bride’s decor to incorporate in her photos. Soon, we made our way to their ceremony. Finally, Kim and Miguel were married. Family photos were taken at a near by park called ‘parc carré vaudreuil’. The fanciest parc of Gatineau i’m sure. With a water fountain and a gazebo.

For bride and groom portraits, we went to théâtre de l’Île. Kim likes to keep things classy looking and neutral. Hence, why she choose fancy parks with lot’s of beige stone interlock. Since being a natural light photographer, having natural light reflectors is key in having bright and airy wedding photos. This théâtre de l’Île wedding definitely resulted in relaxed and playful wedding photos. The combination I love!

Gainsbourg Bistro-Brasserie

They had their wedding reception at le Gainsbourg. The cocktail hour was held on the open air balcony. Beer and nacho were served as the conversations flowed. The bride made the playlist for her wedding herself. It was filled with 90s songs. The 90s has to be my favourite decade for music. Speeches were given and the laughter could be heard miles away. As one of their friend’s said: ‘He took Beyonce’s advice and put a ring on it’. The bride and groom had their first dance surrounded by their loved ones. As a result, Sparks flew as they all held a sparkler and moved to the rhythm of a slow 90s song.

Bed and Breakfast wedding

Bed and breakfast wedding

The bed and breakfast venue looked like an old charming manor. They had it all to themselves for this weekend wedding celebration. Meagan and Francis had a first look. It was so beautiful to watch them be speechless and take it all in. We walked around the bed and breakfast wedding venue for more bride and groom photos.

Their wedding decor was inspired by them. They’re world travellers, food and wine enthusiasts. As a result, you could see vines on the alter. Wine cork and wine bottles for decoration. They even had their own special beer called: ’un mariage parfait.’

Mountain views ceremony

Their mountain views ceremony was nothing short of stunning. Finally, they were able to declare their love in front of friends and family. Cocktail hour was followed on the terrace. The newlyweds opened the biggest bottle of champagne I have ever seen and poured it for everyone.

Being an Ottawa wedding photographer, It’s always nice to go back to my roots and shoot a wedding in Quebec. I get to use my french. The drive to Granby is one that brought back many memories. In 2016, I shot my first wedding of that year with the intent of turning this passion I’ve had for years into my full time job. Thank you so much Meagan + Francis for welcoming me so warmly on this special day. It was truly ‘un mariage parfait’. Have a great honeymoon in Italy.

Wine country Ontario wedding

wine country Ontario wedding

Arthur is Luiza’s first boyfriend. They have been together for seven years. Both from Brazil, they lived in canada for three months to study english. When the three months was up, they packed their bags and went home. Little did she know what Arthur was planning. He gathered photographs of them throughout the years and questions she’d have to answer. When she had an answer right, he’d give her a clue to find the next question. The last one being: ‘Will you marry me?’ They moved back to Toronto together and started planing their wine country Ontario wedding.

They decided to have an intimate weekday wedding. On a Tuesday afternoon. In a vineyard no less. They had nine of their closest family members fly from Fortaleza Brazil for their vineyard wedding. From the bride: ‘I wanna have fun. No crying and no tears. I want a huge smile on my face that makes my makeup wrinkle.’ The ceremony was at the carriage house in Vineland estates winery. An outdoor ceremony overlooking the vineyards. With the ceremony being in Portuguese, each member of their family had a small speech prepared. The bride and groom said their personal written vows to each other.

Vineland estate winery wedding

We made our way to Vineland’s vineyards and walked around this little gem of a Niagara falls winery. This portion of land looks like a small village from France. Dinner and dance followed. The wedding table was beautiful. Filled with florals, greenery, garlands and candlesticks. A romantic old world feel. Almost as if we were inside a french castle. Live music was going throughout dinner. Wine was served as the festivities continued. I mean, what winery wedding would it be without wine? Being a pastry chef herself, the bride went big on a beautiful naked cake and an assortments of pastries and french macaroons.

Luiza found my work through Shelley Scott from wine country floral. I decided to pass the favour along and referred the bride to a makeup artist/hair extraordinaire in the GTA area. Raquel from best face forward artistry. All three of us, worked together last spring on a royal botanical wedding. #dreamteam. It was even better with Karen, the wedding coordinator. Most of all, thank you so much Luiza and Arthur for allowing me to be part of your weekday winery wedding. It couldn’t had been more beautiful.
