Ornamental gardens engagement Ottawa

James and Amy’s ornamental gardens engagement happened almost per accident. They had decided to have their engagement photos taken at the experimental farm and in the Dominion arboretum. Having looked through my work, Amy loved Nick and Haley’s experimental farm engagement.

When we got there, the arboretum was closed. Hence why we decided to shoot in the ornamental gardens. You would think because it’s late November that there wouldn’t be much to see in the gardens. As a matter of fact, I never found the ornamental gardens to be more beautiful. The muted colours, the succulents and seasonal plants were so stunning. It reminded me of 'the secret garden' I’d watch as a child. Being an Ottawa wedding photographer, this was my first time shooting an ornamental gardens engagement believe it or not.

James and Amy brought their A game. From the props they brought to their carefully selected wardrobe. As a result, it elevated their ornamental gardens engagement photos. They even brought a beautiful hand drawn card a friend made for them.

James and Amy were bound to meet each other. They had the same friends and went to the same church. However it took the 2015 Women's world cup game held in Ottawa for them to meet. After the game, their group of friends went to a nearby pub to celebrate. James sat next to Amy. The rest, as they say, is history.
